ABOUT
JULIA MAGDALENE RÓMAS she/they (DE/PL, 1994*) is an interdisciplinary artist, musician and educator based in Berlin. She is teaching Fine Art, Art History and Performance in Berlin and conducts various workshops.
Julia’s multidisciplinary practice explores human identity—its construction, deconstruction, and transformation—through the lenses of post-humanism and intersectional environmentalism. She examines the interplay between nature, urbanity, and culture, addressing the fluid boundaries between the human, non-human, and technological, as well as the social implications of ecological justice. Integrating mythology, storytelling, and community engagement, her work bridges abstraction and figuration to navigate themes of collective memory and interpersonal dynamics. Spanning painting, drawing, sound, music, poetry, writing, performance, and film, her art has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg and the Brücke Museum Berlin.

Julia Romas (DE/PL, 1994*) is an artist, musician, and educator based in Berlin.
Julia studied Design & Photography at Peter Behrens School of Arts in Düsseldorf (B.A) and Fine Arts at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg (M.F.A). After transitioning from the camera to pencil and brush, she began delving into painting, movement and performance studies, music, and singing. For many years, Julia has practiced various movement disciplines, including yoga, contact improvisation, improvisational dance, somatic work, and performance. Her primary interest lies in blending improvisation techniques across movement, dance, and music, singing and poetry – which have become central to her artistic expression.
In her multidisciplinary practice, Julia explores themes of human identity - its construction and deconstruction, within the contexts of nature and urbanity. By merging abstract language with figurative elements, she examines interpersonal dynamics, creating interdisciplinary dialogues between dream and reality while contrasting social realities with places of longing. In her work, she is also interested in mythology from different party of the world, storytelling and community work. Her work spans various media, unfolding in painting, drawing, sound, music, poetry, writing, performance, and film. Julia’s art has been exhibited both nationally and internationally in smaller art spaces, off spaces, and galleries, including the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg and the Brücke Museum Berlin.
Currently, Julia is studying healing arts, psychology, and bodywork to become a holistic practitioner. She is teaching Fine Art and Art History in Berlin and conducts various workshops.
