My name is Julia Magdalene Rómas and I'm working and living as artist, musician and teacher in Berlin.
In my world sounds have colors and lines and shapes play music. My multifaceted art practice includes paintings, sculpture, sounds, poetry and performance art that both seeks and shifts the boundaries between our concepts of identity, self and other – telling stories of creation of surreal creatures, colorful curiosities and dreamlike landscapes through the use of an own created visual language.
My education is based on the studies at Peter Behrens School of Arts Düsseldorf (B.A. Design), University of Hamburg (Ethnology) and Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg (M.F.A. Theory and History). The studies and performance classes at HFBK Hamburg, Center for Dance - Improvisation- Performance Hamburg TRIADE, Lola Rogge Schule Hamburg and Tanzfabrik Berlin form the training in painting, sculpture, free improvisation, improvised music, performance and contemporary dance. My work was shown in local art galleries and exhibitions spaces in Hamburg, Venice and Berlin.
I'm the singer of the Berlin band PADREMA founded 2020 and working with various musicians. I work interdisciplinary in artistic and artistic-educational contexts, with various artists from the fields of music, dance, theater and visual arts, teaching art at schools in the Waldorf educational context.
Please feel free to contact me for any cooperation, booking or questions.
